A318's are extremely rare. The cost to operate the airplane relative to the amount of passengers it can handle makes it a difficult airplane to make money with, hence it's relative rarity around the world. Avianca picked up the A318's from now defunct Mexicana (R.I.P.) and are used mostly out of Brazil, but make their way up to Miami too
