Upon arrival in the terminal area, heavy airplanes (767 and above) are stopped, engines shut down and aircraft hooked up to tug, which brings aircraft to the gate. This is done to avoid blowing of people and equipment at adjacent gates as the airplane would need to turn and any wake turbulence would affect anything behind it
